DEHP-Free and Phthalate-Free Medical Tubing
Home >> News >> DEHP-Free and Phthalate-Free Medical Tubing
Grayline LLC has introduced flexible, medical grade PVC tubing products that are either Phthalate-Free or DEHP-Free*. Flexible PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is produced by mixing a rigid PVC resin with a blend of plasticizers, stabilizers, fillers and pigments. Tubing materials become softer and more flexible as the percentage of plasticizer is increased because they interfere with rigid bonds and allow polymer chains to move and flex. DEHP and other phthalate plasticizers have commonly been used in medical grade PVC tubing, but are now being restricted across the industry.
Grayline offers both Non-Phthalate and Non-DEHP PVC tubing options that have met the needs of many medical device customers.
Non-Phthalate PVC Tubing
Non-Phthalate PVC tubing is certified to contain no more than 1000 parts per million (0.1%) total phthalate content. Grayline medical tubing products which are Non-Phthalate include:
Non-DEHP PVC Tubing
Non-DEHP PVC tubing is formulated with plasticizers other than DEHP but trace levels of DEHP are not controlled. Trace levels of DEHP can be present due to cross-contamination of PVC processing equipment. Grayline medical tubing products which are Non-DEHP include:
Grayline also offers non-PVC medical grade tubing products. These products can be used for applications in which the phthalate content must be zero.
Grayline medical tubing can be used in a wide variety of applications such as negative pressure wound drains, insufflation tubing, infant care/breast milk pump tubing, suction, extension, oxygen and drain lines, protective coverings and many more.
